This fly is in the “Made in Montana” section because that is where it was conceived, but it really does work everywhere, so there you go.  This is one of the larger soft hackle flies built for tempting the Brown trout coming out of Hebgen in the fall on the Madison River.  Works nice with a spey rig but can also be worked with a heavier one hander (like an 8’ – 6 wt. Bamboo rod).  Great fly to run through the Steelhead holes as we all know how Rainbows love those Royal colors. I have also tied this with a small bead head in Gold or Black for faster water.
