Another classic fly that I had to include in this section. Obviously one of Lee Wulff's creations, I believe the Royal shortly followed the Grey Wulff in his series of bushy, high floating attractors. Falling into the category of "flies that catch fishermen", this handsome fellow is probably found in more fly boxes than most other dry flies out there. The bright white hair wings assist the angler in visibility - even in fast, broken water and the full hackle will keep this fly high and dry. I have used the Royal on the Yellowstone and Henry's Fork (particularly when there are Green Drakes about) and the rainbows just can't resist.
