When it gets to be late July and kinda sultry, it’s hopper time. You heard it many times before “Big fly – Big fish” and a lot of the times this is the big fly they were talking about. I picked the parachute style as one to feature for a couple reasons. The first is lay that fat body and those kinky legs low in the film to show Mr. Trout the treat in store for him. The second is that I usually tie an ant or beetle behind the hopper and the white post helps to keep track of things when we are bobbing around a far piece from the boat. Another fly that you can play with the color - Olive, Yellow and Grey being some obvious choices. If you like to fish nymph droppers, you might try a wrapped closed cell foam body – it will float a bowling ball. |
