Steelhead Alley - October 2011

Déjà Vu all over again and again - Holy Crap what a place!  Once again seven (7) Michigan anglers pursue the (not so) wily Steelhead near Erie, PA.  This year's trip bears a close resemblance to the 2010 adventure only MORE fish, more fun and more fish porn.   You heard it before, not the most scenic wilderness experience, but if you enjoy hooking a lot of angry fish then here you go (again) . . .

Tuesday Morning on 16 Mile Creek -

Let's start things off with a Father and Son double.  John and Mike get a rare chance to show off a fresh pair right out of the chute on Tuesday morning.  So far, so good!

Couldn't resist a little "Steelhead Love" - I even think it's a boy and a girl!

I call this photo "Now you know what they are eating".  Not very glamorous, but they sure were on the Egg.

Mike lifting a particularly healthy specimen out of the creek.  By the way, the Freeport Restaurant just on the other side of the bridge is outstanding!

The kid is showing off again!  It must be that fine Montesino that is keeping those Steelhead on the fly!

Al connects with a fresh hen early in the evening - Welcome to Steelhead Alley Al!

Wednesday on Elk Creek -
Your humble rodmaker slips a photo in on Elk Creek.  I had just spent a few minutes with a new friend from Pittsburgh, he offered to share his spot and here you go!  George gets his chance in the next photo!

And here you go.  I think him arm was tired from a steady parade of willing fish, but he still manages a smile for one more plump hen.  Thanks again, George - until next time!

Johnny showing off a nice fresh buck.

Thursday - Back to 16 Mile Creek
A swell way to start the morning under the falls back on 16 Mile Creek.

A Father and Son side by side on Thursday morning.

Sometimes the Egg is so tempting you just can't resist!  Rick thought he would taste one just to see what was so irresistible.  I think he likes it!
Young William with a prime hen up against the slate.

Johnny with another pretty Buck with the falls behind him.

Are you getting tired yet?  Bill still has enough left for another Photo-Op!

A classic example of camera movement - sorry but I still had to include another double with Mike and Rick on the Falls up on 16 Mile Creek.

Richie artfully holds the net beneath Mikes exceptionally plump steelhead.

A quick look at the toothy business end.

Your humble rodmaker lifting one out close to the end of the morning - end of my trip!

I just couldn't resist sharing this.  In his eagerness to help net one, Richie lost his footing and was one with the fish - at least for a very brief swim.  Notice the look of concern on Rick's face and John busy turning one loose on the far side.  The end of another great day in Steelhead Alley!
