Montana II - August 2002
| Even though Marge and I
tried hard to catch every trout in Montana, I was afraid we left a couple
untouched.
So . . . it's back to work we go. Accompanied by 5 other eager young men, we once again assaulted the rivers of Montana and Yellowstone to try to touch them all.

This is Davie and Geoff on the Madison River with one of the first rainbows of the day - August 25. |
|
A little further down the Madison River and your faithful rodmaker puts another slightly larger rainbow in the boat. Notice the blatant display of the BHT bamboo rod. This is an 8' 6 weight that worked just fine on the big river - thank God the wind stayed under 30 mph. |

We stumbled across this big guy on our way up to the Yellowstone River. The rangers encourage you not to feed or harass the wildlife in the park. No kidding. |
|
On August 27 we found our way back to the 3 Dollar Bridge on the Madison. It was a cool, cloudy morning and as predicted by Craig Matthews, the Baetis were coming off and the trout were eating on top. |
| It's hard to beat big fish eating on top. |

August 28 - back on the Madison - David and Geoff with a real nice Brown trout. |
| Still on the Madison with another Brown - obviously this guy has never missed a meal. | ![]() |

August 29 - today we took a walk in the Park. Start the morning out on Slough Creek. David puts a very nice Cutthroat in the net. If you ever make it to Yellowstone you have to visit the Lamar valley - The Lamar, Slough and Soda Butte are all right there - what a trip. |
| Double Cutts on the Soda Butte - a beautiful little river in a beautiful little valley with hungry trout eating on top. Hard to think of a better way to spend a day. | ![]() |

| A final photo on the final day - from left to right - Lou, Michael, Rick, Pork Chop, John and David - our faithful guides Mike, Geoff and Cam. The black hats hats all say "Shut Up and Fish" - do you think he got the message? |
