Jeep Trout Expedition #22 - June 2010

Back again for the 22nd. year of the Jeep Trout Expedition!  I think we made it up to 14 participants and enjoyed some sun and rain, food and fish and plenty of Male Bonding.  Everyone made it out alive and hopefully will be back for JTE 23 next year.

Fire in the Hole!  This is the closest intersection to the cabin up at M-72 and McMaster's Bridge last Tuesday -  May 18.  Close to 9,000 acres burned but the DNR and Huron National Forest crews finally got everything under control.

Mark holds a sweet little Mason Tract brown trout.  We started the week on Tuesday with a 10 hour float trip down the entire Mason Tract - from Chase to Smith Bridges.  Excellent day - had a great time with a great guide.  Be sure to ask for Mark at Gates AuSable Lodge!

Your humble rodmaker lifts a South Branch brown for a quick photo op.

Now things are getting serious.  Andrew shows off an awesome 25 1/2" beast that came out of the Mainstream for a little Brown Drake snack a little after 10 pm.  Quite a battle with a 4wt. - this big guy was turned loose after a quick measurement and a couple of frantic photos.

Bobby was at JTE #1 and is the senior member of the group - got a chance at a classic AuSable Brook Trout in the morning sunshine.  Can't beat that Dust Bunny for a bright day fly.
